The Institute has the following objectives: - To inculcate the culture of democracy, peace, and democratic governance in South Sudan.
- To promote free and democratic institutions in South Sudan through private sector initiatives.
- To promote individual rights and freedoms, including internationally recognized human rights which are essential to the functioning of democratic and peace institutions.
- To promote nongovernmental participation in democratic and peace institutions in South Sudan.
- To encourage and promote the establishment and growth of democratic and peace development in a manner consistent with the broad concerns and national interests, and with the specific cultural requirements of South Sudan.
- Initiate programs to educate the citizens about their democratic rights through civic education.
- Enlighten citizens about the democratic and legislative processes.
- Organize and enlighten citizens at home and abroad to participate in census and voter registration.
- Promote women’s participation in the political process and in government.
- Organize and enlighten South Sudanese at home and in Diaspora about the population Census, Elections, and the Referendum for Self-Determination and the democratic processes involved therein.
- Shaping of public policy through academic, literary and intellectual debates, seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops, and meetings.
- Advocate and propagate for economic justice, civil and human rights, equality, and peace in South Sudan.
- Advocate and propagate for unity among the people of South Sudan.
- Carry out scientific and academic research on democracy and democratic governance, peace, justice, human rights, law and constitutional reforms.
- To liaise and help the local authority (Governors, County Commissioners, Payam administrators to build intertribal and intra-tribal relationship and peace.
- To provide educational and training opportunities to all who need these services.
- To provide for humanitarian services.
- To provide humanitarian aid to refugees, the internally displaced persons, and help in their relief, repatriation, resettlement, and rehabilitation.
