The sustainability of democracy or democratic governance in a given society depends on good governance, good economy, and a healthy society. Any democratic government must have good health policies, plans and programs that address the health needs of the people. It must be capable and able to provide health services to its citizens.


This Health Program is established to help the national, state, and local governments in formulating plans and policies that will promote general health, public and environmental health. It initiates primary and community health care, mother and child care programs. Without prejudice to the foregoing the HP carries out the following:

  • Educating the public on health care.
  • Creating awareness about HIV/AIDS and the dangers posed by the virus.
  • Carry out media propaganda on health issues, and on HIV/AIDS prevention, control methods and treatment
  • Publish literature in English, local, and Arabic languages on health matters and on HIV/AIDS awareness, its control, prevention, and treatment.
  • Make and carry out scientific, professional, and academic research on health issues with the aim of improving the health system and of health services.
  • It provides professional, technical, and expert advice on health matters to the national, state, and local governments.
