This is a very complex process because it involves rehabilitation of people as well as structures, e.g. schools, hospitals, and roads, to mention only a few.. Reconstruction also involves human life, as people’s lives have been terribly affected and changed drastically by the war. Those returning need to reconstruct their lives to suit the new environment or situation. People will have to adopt new methods and ways of living, and adapt to new situations.
Reconstruction, involves the improvement of such structures such as roads, schools, hospitals, etc, etc. It presents a great challenge to the government as well as all those engaged in it. It therefore requires the provision of technical know-how, skills and expertise. SSIDP focuses on providing the needed professional and technical skills and expertise to enhance proper and smooth carrying out of the rehabilitation and reconstruction process. In addition to what is said above, this program focuses on: - Dealing with rehabilitation and reconstruction policies, issues and matters.
- Provision of technical, professional, and academic advice in the fields of rehabilitation and reconstruction.
- It lays down the policies, programs, and activities for the Institute to pursue in the fields of rehabilitation and reconstruction.
Assisting the national, state, and local governments in carrying out the rehabilitation and reconstruction process. The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (RRP) is currenly headed by SSIDP Board Member Sisto Olur .
