This program focuses on human rights issues generally. HRA monitors and oversees the national, state and local government authorities in all matters pertaining to respect of human rights. HRA researches, and analyses data and provides advice accordingly. In other words, it is the watchdog on human rights issues, and it directs the authorities accordingly. HRA main activities are but not limited to the following:

  • It carries out academic and scientific research on human rights issues with the aim of formulating the best policies and plans pertaining to human rights.
  • Endeavors always to eliminate abuse of human rights.
  • Works to promote respect for human rights and the Rule of Law.
  • Training of human rights activists and monitors.
  • Capacity empowerment of human rights and advocacy groups.
  • Provides professional and technical advice to private, community, public, and government institutions on human rights issues.

The Human Rights Affairs (HRA) program is currently headed by SSIDP Board Member Josephine Akulang Abalang.
